I am officially on bankruptcy watch. I kid around a lot about being worried about not being able to pay my bills but I usually keep a fairly comfortable cushion between myself and total poverty. Between getting sick and missing 2 days of work, taking a day off to help out my mom, and leaving early when I wasn't feeling well things have gotten pretty tight. It doesn't sound like I missed that much work but when you work 8 days a month it really adds up. Not to mention that I foolishly managed to lose thirty dollars in birthday money at my parents house. Surely my brother has found it and smoked it by now.
For the next month I'm only buying gas and food and cat litter. I swear.
In a sort of related news story, a group of people who call themselves The Compact (which is kind of creepy) have vowed to not buy anything new in 2006 ("Out of the Retail Rat Race") except food, health supplies, and underwear. My favorite quote from the article: "It's just a relief to get away from the pressure to always have new clothes, gadgets and other things we don't need...And I find that I have more money to spend on the dried cherries for my Manhattans"

Today or tomorrow I'm going to make a list of what I need to do over vacation. A good list. A thorough list. With bullets and sub-bullets. If I don't make one I know I'll spend the whole time in my cat pajamas eating fat-free pudding and watching reruns of The Gauntlet. Now there's a pretty picture.
I still plan on watching a sickening about of movies though. Netflix isn't ready for this jelly.

Some TV stuff:
Clearly the favorite for American Idol this year is Ace Young. And while yesterday I was all fanning myself from his hotness, today I'm not so thrilled since he already had a little success in the business. I'm not sure if having a song on The Little Vampire soundtrack is really success, but it's more than I like to see my Idols have. Now I really want to crazy grey-haired guy to win.
Snowboarders are the silliest looking olympians ever: Shaun White (won gold), & Hannah Teeter.
Jenna and I like this guy (Johnny Weir) for his obvious queen-like tendencies. Not to mention the swan costume.
